Our Story
I'm Anaïs Renn, the founder of RennWild. We are an independent candle company based on Gower in South Wales.
I started RennWild with one simple goal: to make luxury, sustainable candles that are within the price range of everyday people. After many years of research and testing, I'm delighted to say that this goal has been achieved.
I first started making candles in 2016 as a passion project, creating Christmas gifts for family and friends. However, I found that most candle-making kits, alongside most commercial candle options, were made with paraffin wax and artificial ingredients, with no concern for their impact on the environment.
Over the next few years, I extensively researched the most sustainable ingredients and methods for candle making, putting this into practice at Christmas to make gifts for family and friends and occasionally selling at market stalls.
Then in November 2023, I launched RennWild as a seasonal business, where it quickly rose to become a UK bestselling store on Etsy. This year, RennWild is proud to launch its own website offering luxury, environmentally-conscious candles at an affordable price.
Inspired by Wales
RennWild is proud to be a Welsh company. I was fortunate enough to grow up on Gower, where I was constantly in awe of the natural beauty and inspired by the resilience of our communities. I created The Welsh Collection candles in order to celebrate our land, our heritage and our language. As a small, local business, RennWild both celebrates and supports our Welsh community.
Inspired by Literature
There is an inherent link between storytelling and our sense of smell. That's why certain scents can evoke such nostalgia, and bring us back to an exact moment from our past. Scientific research has found significant links between scent and memory.
I created RennWild Inspired by Literature candles in order to capture the same feelings that a great story can evoke.
As an avid reader and writer, I am often inspired by books and poems, which can elicit deep and powerful emotions by grounding us in our senses. You can almost smell the ferns and woodlands while reading Dylan Thomas. Now, you really can smell it - and carry it with you in a handy jar!
